FRINGE DIVISION CASE FILE #213-12810

FRINGE EVENT: Common genetic-trait toxin

CLASSIFIED CASE CONNECTION(S): Josef Mengele's research to create a weapon toxin capable of targeting specific victims

AGENTS ASSIGNED: Dunham

SUPERVISING AGENT: Broyles

FILE ARCHIVED BY: David Balkin, Sheree Sensel

WITNESSES/CONTACTS: Detective Burt Manning, Eliza Staller, Alfred Hoffman (suspect), Edward Markham, Eric Franko

LOCATION: Brookline, MA; Newton, MA

VICTIM(S): 15 wedding guests, 9 coffeehouse patrons

CASE REPORT SUMMARY:

Fifteen people at a wedding died, suffocated in a room full of air. All of the victims were direct descendants of guest Eva Staller, a Holocaust survivor. Anyone not related to her survived, along with one grandchild who was illegitimate. The toxin was determined to be hydrogen cyanide dispersed in the air by a cinnamon-scented candle.
Nine new victims were found suffocated at a coffeehouse, but all were unrelated to one another. The toxin was dispersed by fumes from cinnamon tea and exclusively killed those with brown eyes. Dr. Bishop confirmed the toxin was created to focus on a targeted common genetic trait and was a blend of chromium trioxide and hydrogen cyanide. After suspect Eric Franko (an artist) was cleared, a carbon chain, bearing the signature of the creator, was uncovered to be Alfred Hoffman. Dr. Bishop isolated skin cells from his partial fingerprints to use the killer's DNA to target him, and only him, using his own toxin. Agent Dunham prevented Hoffman from unleashing a new attack at the World Tolerance Conference at the Boston Center for Performing arts.
