FRINGE DIVISION CASE FILE #212-12110

FRINGE EVENT: Ancient self-spreading virus

CLASSIFIED CASE CONNECTION(S): N/A

AGENTS ASSIGNED: Dunham

SUPERVISING AGENT: Broyles, Field Director Arnold McFadden (CDC)

FILE ARCHIVED BY: Monika J, Max Vujovic

WITNESSES/CONTACTS: Vincent Ames, Mike [redacted], Detective Kassel, Bill Hubbert (CDC)

LOCATION: Vitas Petrol, Boston, MA

VICTIM(S): Radjan Vandenkemp, Linda [redacted], Steve [redacted], Peter Bishop, 10 others (in treatment)

CASE REPORT SUMMARY:

Oil consultant Radjan Vandenkemp arrived at Logan Airport on a flight from Dubai for a meeting at Vitas Petrol with Vincent Ames regarding selling information about a recent reserve find by a Vitas competitor. Vandenkemp was scheduled to present at their offices at 7:10 a.m., and as he got off the elevator his veins ruptured and he spewed a red mist all over the office and some of its employees. The CDC locked the facility down to prevent any spread while Fringe consultants helped question and test the victims. Dr. Bishop determined the virus needed other organisms to infect, and it started compelling the infected to break the quarantine so it could spread outside the building via blood and saliva.
Dr. Bishop found the Vandenkemp sample, stolen from Solum Oil Corp, was the origin of the virus, which comes from deep within the earth and is perhaps seventy-five thousand years old. The infection was bumped up to a Level 6 eradication. Peter Bishop was infected and it prompted Dr. Bishop to create an antidote from the glycoside in horseradish, which is high in sulfur, to attack the virus. They pumped fentanyl gas into the building to knock out the victims long enough to synthesize a cure.

Walter's Food

Walter used horseradish to test his theory on how to combat the virus.
